During these first months of the year, FEEDA has once again demonstrated that it is looking after the interests of the sector, and has raised awareness of the importance of accessibility and safety in elevators, especially for disabled people. In terms of accessibility, the greatest achievement this year is the development of a virtual button panel that guarantees universal accessibility in the lifting environment. This project, currently under development and expected to be launched in summer 2021, was created by FEEDA, the ONCE Foundation (National Organiz ation of Spanish Blind People) and Nayar Systems, in response to the need to avoid contacts in lifts due to the health situation. Francisco González, general director of the Spanish Elevator Business Federation, declared that "accessibility, together with safety, are two of the basic pillars for which FEEDA works every day in the Lift Sector. This is an example of both accessibility and safety, due to the lack of direct contact to manipulate the lift. Our main task in this joint project is that all the companies in the sector know and can use this Virtual Button Panel design in each of their installations and, in this way, all their users can easily access any floor without having to touch any type of button".
