2022 Annual Conference to push for review of vertical transportation industry status
12th May 2020, Brussels, Belgium – The European Lift Association (ELA), the voice of the lift, escalator and moving walk industry in Europe, is calling for vertical transportation service providers and manufacturers to be given the status of ‘essential safety services’. This appeal will be one of the key highlights of ELA’s upcoming 2022 Annual Conference on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th May in Frankfurt, Germany.
“This year one of our key focus points will be recognizing the vital role the lift industry plays in the modern built environment,” says Roberto Zappa, President of ELA. “We believe that manufacturers and service providers should be accorded essential safety service status to avoid the problems we saw during the peak of the pandemic that severely hampered essential service and production activities and caused operational difficulties.”
Around a hundred participants, including ELA members from 24 national European associations, representatives from ELA’s Committees and Working Groups, as well as selected members of the press and invited guests are expected to attend this first physical ELA annual conference to take place in over two years. The talks will be grouped into three main sessions and will cover a variety of topics, including norms and standards, environment and energy, and digitalization.
“After the difficulties and disruptions caused by the pandemic, we look forward to seeing our valued members together in person once again,” said Andreas Wespi, Vice President of ELA. “We expect a strong presence from our members to finally have the chance to connect in person and benefit from the wide range of important discussions that will take place.”
