During the Energy & Environment Committee meeting of September 11, 2019, it was discussed whether the SRI (Smart Readiness Indicators for Buildings) policy was of interest to the industry and whether it was related to the EPBD or not.
It was considered as an opportunity to be explored in depth, thus active participation in the ongoing study was deemed to be necessary.
In parallel the assessment of the EN 15232 standard (Building Automation and Control Systems) is of relevance as it highly contributes to the foundation of the SRI methodology and therefore may impact the lift industry.
ELA does not have an official position on this issue. A European stakeholders meeting is scheduled on October 9, 2019, in which Alper Caliskan (member of the Energy & Environment Committee) will participate.
Following this meeting, it will be decided how to dialogue directly with the European Commission. A meeting has been scheduled with the Directorate-General for Energy on October 23, 2019; Luca Pezzini and Alper Caliskan will attend the meeting, as ELA representatives.
In the meantime, the analysis of the EN 15232 will be done by some of the Energy & Environment committee members and a document identifying the pros and cons will be drawn up by Alper Caliskan for presentation to the next Energy & Environment Committee - a key step for formulating the official position of ELA to the next ELA Board meeting (December 2019).
